Clary Sage EO ~ Salvia sclarea

Clary Sage {Salvia sclarea} essential oil has an euphoric aroma that makes it an incredible nervous system relaxant. Clary offers us a gentle hand in lifting our depression, especially postpartum depression. When we are calm & supported, we are able to move forward in life when we feel stuck. Clary Sage has a lovely restorative nature, which makes it a great addition to any blend used for those who have been weakened by illness. It helps balance our emotions when we are overwhelmed by life. It also allows us to access our dreams, producing clarity & focus.

Clary Sage has an affinity with the female reproductive organs due to its hormone balancing properties. It is used in childbirth to encourage the forward motion of the labor process. It has been shown to strengthen & tone the uterus, thus relieving cramps & spasms.

The large amount of linalyl acetate (an ester) offers a wonderful aid in inflammation, pain, and anxiety. We know that esters combat stress by balancing the sympathetic nervous system & neuro-endocrine system. Linalyl acetate's analgesic properties are why it is very beneficial to add to a blend that addresses menstruation issues. Clary Sage also has a good amount of the monoterpenol linalol (aka linalool). This monoterpenol is an incredible sedative with great antispasmodic properties. Its sedative activity makes it a potent contributor to a blend for calming the central nervous system.

Clary Sage has an affinity with the Sacral Chakra because it promotes clarity & understanding of our emotions through intuitive insights. It helps to calm & balance our emotions. It also has a connection to our Brow Chakra because it supports our intuition, strengthens our inner eye to "see" more clearly, and inspires us through our dreaming.

Blends well with: bergamot, black pepper, cardamom, Roman chamomile, coriander, amirs, cypress, geranium, grapefruit, ho wood, jasmine, lavender, lemon, lime, mandarin, patchouli, rose, sandalwood, valerian

Safety Considerations: Avoid Clary Sage during pregnancy due to its uterine toning qualities, however, has shown to be supportive during active labor; avoid while breastfeeding
